![]() ![]() Take note, each controller’s mapping in Traktor is set up precisely around what the expected work flow of each individual controller is, not how they work together as a greater whole. I am not planning on spending a lot of time discussing the included mappings because while Behringer has worked hard to provide you with as much assistance to take these things out of their boxes and get to work, their real strength is in being utilized based around what you need in your personal rig. While they all have their own use cases and they are also all made from the same stuff. Just looking at them is kind of overwhelming, and I know it’s going to be difficult to review them in a way that makes sense. So I unpacked the five boxes and locked everything together. Now, all these years later, I have another stack of Behringer CMD modular controller boxes to be excited about getting because I am that many steps closer to building my dream rig, whatever it may be this week. I remember the excitement surrounding the release of the Stanton SCS3 line and the sense of acceptance that it was the best I was going to get at the time. I have been waiting for a solid modular DJ solution for a while. Digital processing: 24-bit converter 48 kHz sample rate. ![]() Maximum output level: +8 dBu (RCA) -4 dBu (headphone) (+18 dBm 32 ohms).Output connectors: RCA x 4 1/4" TRS headphone. When you combine this type of value with Behringer's 3-year warranty program, you have a monster DJ solution, no matter your experience level or application. The same goes for other features, like library navigation, looping controls, EQ kills, keylock, and much more. Most DJ software is capable of running 4 or more virtual decks, so the Studio 4A can control up to 4 virtual decks. ![]() Modern DJ software typically has between 5 and 8 hotcues, yet many controllers in the market only have 3. It’s easy to get the big stuff right, but it's the little things that usually slip through the cracks. That means that if a button is lit in your software, it’s also lit up on the Studio 4A. The CMD Studio 4A addresses this by incorporating plenty of MIDI feedback. ![]() And as a DJ, you don’t want to be forced to constantly look at the computer instead of reading your crowd. No one wants to look up at the DJ and see him looking at his computer screen like he's updating his Facebook page. This high-quality audio interface has 24-bit converters and provides ultra-low latency operation in either Windows or OS X. So you buy a controller and get it home, only to find out that you have to go right back out and buy a soundcard? Behringer built a 4-output USB sound card into the Studio 4A, so you're ready to go right-out-of-the-box. After the faders, the platter is your main contact point on a controller shrinking that down to a tiny little rubber disc just isn’t satisfying. Behringer says bigger is better, so the Studio 4A packs 6" touch-sensitive platters that work the way you expect them to, coming from industry standard equipment. The prevailing trend seems to be smaller and smaller platters, in an effort to knock the overall size (and cost) of the controller down. Those sizes are an industry standard for a reason, right?Īnother area where most controllers fall short is platter size. Nice 60 mm channel faders translate into smoother mixes, so they added those as well. Tiny pitch faders just feel wrong, so they broke out the 100 mm faders for the Studio 4A's pitch controls. And the Studio 4A not only includes those features, it actually improves on many of them.ĭo you find yourself disappointed when you get in front of a DJ controller and see those tiny little faders? Behringer feels the same way. The CMD Studio 4A has the very same features you’ll find on bigger, more expensive controllers. This is no watered-down "budget" controller. The new CMD Studio 4A from Behringer provides all the tools needed to learn the basics of DJing, or for a seasoned pro to keep the dance floor jumping like a boss.
